Pest Control Charlotte NC: Service Areas Across the Queen City and Beyond
Last summer, a family in Myers Park noticed what they thought was a little sawdust near their back door. Turns out it wasn’t sawdust at all—it was termite frass, and the damage behind their baseboard had been building for months. They called Clegg’s Pest Control and we had a tech out the next morning. That’s the kind of fast, local response Charlotte homeowners and businesses have counted on from us for decades.
Clegg’s has been serving pest control in Charlotte, NC and the surrounding communities since 1964. That’s over 60 years learning exactly what bugs and critters move through this part of the Carolinas. We know the difference between a sugar ant problem in Dilworth and a carpenter ant situation in Ballantyne. We know which Charlotte neighborhoods see the worst German cockroach pressure in late summer. And we know that the folks over in Concord deal with a different rodent season than the ones closer to Uptown.
If you’re looking for pest control near you in the Charlotte area, you’ve found it. Here’s a full look at where we serve and what we can do for your home or business.

Why Charlotte Homeowners Choose Clegg’s Pest Control
There’s no shortage of pest control options in Charlotte. So why Clegg’s?
It comes down to experience and accountability. We’ve been operating in the Carolinas since 1964—we’re not a national franchise that just planted a flag here. Our technicians are QualityPro certified and state-licensed, and we’ve built our reputation on doing the work right rather than locking people into overpriced annual contracts they don’t need.
We also offer a satisfaction guarantee. If the pest problem returns between our scheduled visits, we come back at no charge. That’s not something every company in this market will commit to.
We’re also honest about what we can and can’t do. If you’ve got a situation that needs a structural repair or a plumber to fix a moisture issue before our treatment will hold, we’ll tell you that upfront. A lot of pest problems in Charlotte are connected to underlying conditions—moisture in crawl spaces, gaps in the building envelope, overgrown landscaping touching the foundation—and we’d rather help you solve the real problem than keep coming back for the same one.

Understanding the opponent
Crafting Strategic Solutions for Long Term Protection in Charlotte, NC
With over 60+ years of experience, our experts know what works. We’re well prepared to defend your property from pests through a variety of proven pest control solutions, including:
Cockroach
North Carolina has two main cockroach problems: German cockroaches inside, and American cockroaches (a.k.a. palmetto bugs) coming in from outside. They’re treated very differently, and mixing up the approach is one of the most common mistakes homeowners make when trying to handle it themselves.
Bedbug
Bed bugs don’t care how clean your home is. They hitch rides on luggage, used furniture, clothing—even in movie theater seats. North Carolina’s busy travel corridors and growing short-term rental market have made bed bug calls more common over the last few years, especially in areas where turnover is high.
Termites
Termites are the number one structural pest in North Carolina. The state’s warm, humid summers and mild winters create ideal conditions for Eastern subterranean termites to thrive. If you own a home here long enough, you’re going to cross paths with them eventually.
Moisture
North Carolina’s humidity doesn’t just make summers uncomfortable—it creates real problems under your home. Crawl spaces in the Piedmont and Coastal Plain regularly see moisture levels high enough to invite termites, promote wood rot, and fuel mold growth. Most homeowners don’t think about what’s happening beneath their floors until they notice soft spots, musty smells, or a spike in their energy bills.
Rodents
When the temps drop in the fall, mice and rats start looking for ways inside. In North Carolina, that usually means October through early December is when rodent calls spike. Houses with older foundations, gaps around pipe penetrations, or attached garages are especially vulnerable. Once one mouse finds a way in, others follow the scent trail.
Mosquitos
Mosquitoes are more than just a nuisance in North Carolina—they’re a legitimate health concern. The state’s humid springs and summers, combined with standing water from afternoon storms, create perfect breeding conditions from March through October. A single backyard birdbath or clogged gutter can produce hundreds of mosquitoes a week, and species like the Asian tiger mosquito are aggressive daytime biters that make it hard to enjoy your own yard.

How do I know if I have termites or just carpenter ants?
The main visual clue is the frass. Termite frass (droppings) looks like tiny pellets or a fine powder, often dark or brown. Carpenter ant frass looks coarser—more like wood shavings mixed with insect parts. Mud tubes along your foundation or crawl space are a termite indicator; carpenter ants don’t build mud tubes. Swarmers (winged reproductives) also look different: termite swarmers have equal-length wings and straight antennae, while ant swarmers have unequal wings and elbowed antennae. If you’re not sure, send us a photo or let us come take a look—we’d rather rule it out than have you lose sleep wondering.
Is pest control safe for my kids and pets?
Yes, when done correctly. Clegg’s uses pet friendly products applied at label rates by licensed technicians. We use targeted placement techniques that minimize exposure to areas where children and pets spend time. For gel bait treatments (cockroaches, ants), products are placed inside cracks, voids, and under appliances—not sprayed broadly. For any treatment that requires temporary vacancy (usually just a few hours), we’ll tell you upfront how long to stay out and when it’s safe to return. If you have specific concerns about a product being used, just ask—we can always walk you through the safety data sheet.
What’s the best time of year to get pest control in Charlotte?
Pest control works year-round in Charlotte—our winters are mild enough that most pests stay active. That said, spring is the best time for a preventive treatment before ant and termite swarm season kicks off. Fall treatments help with rodent exclusion before the cooler months push them inside. If you’re doing a one-time treatment, spring or early summer gives you the most protection heading into the peak pest season. Year-round service plans give you the most consistent coverage regardless of season.
Do you offer same-day pest control service in Charlotte?
We do our best to accommodate same-day or next-day service for urgent situations like active bed bug infestations or significant rodent activity. Availability depends on your location in the Charlotte area and current scheduling. Call us at (888) 672-5344 and we’ll tell you exactly when we can get someone to you.
