What are Drywood Termites?
Drywood termites live in wood that is above the ground, which makes your home a prime location for their colony. Unlike their subterranean cousins, these termites don’t require soil contact to survive. They actually prefer low moisture levels and are content to hang out in the walls of your home and even your furniture.
These pests are able to fly, and you will see them swarm during spring and summer months. Adults are dark brown in color and measure approximately a half inch long.
How to Get Rid of Drywood Termites
If these termites haven’t yet spread to large areas of your home, you may be able to spot treat them. However, finding the entire source of your termite problem can be a challenge, and if you don’t treat the entire colony, the damage will continue and will cost you more money down the road.
